To promote, support, and conduct scientific research pursuant to acquire scientific knowledge and technological developments in areas of importance for professional practice in health, with emphasis on children´s health.
To provide healthcare team members a solid ground of knowledge to acquire maximum healthcare quality through the incorporation of systematic scientific methodology for problem solving. To stimulate the development of research to generate both new knowledge and applied/basic research to solve specific healthcare problems.

AIMS

GENERAL

  • Develop maternal, infant, and pediatric health research.
  • Follow-up developments concerned with medication, food, diagnostic methods and new technologies.
  • Promote epidemiologic research.
  • Promote teaching in research.
  • Create tools to improve administrative processes and hospital management.
  • Health prevention and promotion through research programs-community action.
PARTICULAR
  • Create an institutional and interdisciplinary coordinating area for scientific research with the following obligations and duties:
  • Select priority projects and control their development.     
  • Coordinate the international and/or private resources for the implementation of the above mentioned projects.
  • Promote the empowerment of human resources through permanent training.
  • Perform the systematic survey of the available in-hospital scientific and technological resources.
  • Perform institutional agreements with national and international universities, departments and institutes.
  • Allocate the available resources to the different types of research (clinical, technological) and to the administrative area, giving priority to investigations with higher impact on healthcare and the community.
  • Incorporate post-graduate studies carried out at the Hospital.
  • In-service training for health professionals acquisition of methodological tools for the development of research and for problem solving.
